I see some of these that are caused by a wrapping machine but this one is messed up on both sides.

are these worth anything or worth keeping?

i would say no just PMD if anything get a clearer pic and one of what might be a Greaser above the word dime

I don't know what causes it but 1985 was known for these. I have a few myself.

That looks like it has a very high relief. Was it a proof?

it coulcn't have been a proof with a D mint mark in 1985.
