So, a guy has the below coin for sale. Let me start out by saying I'm sorry about the pics, they are the best that I can get out of him. It's an 1898 Barber 0 quarter. What sort of grade and what sort of price is it worth? I don't have a Barber quarter yet, and I want one badly. So... Is it a good coin?

Your coin will grade Good+ with a value of around 20 dollars... I would offer half of that. There was 1,868 million produced.

Ten bucks sounds fair for this Barber Qaurter.

There are many more Barbers out there in much better condition @ reasonable prices... My vote would be to wait until something better comes along.

Dave H has it right. I don't know what your budget is but if you can get yourself in the $25 range, go hunting and don't jump the first one that comes along. If you are patient and wait it out, even if you lose 20 auctions on the bay, you'll win one that you want. That's the discipline to waiting out a monster deal. good luck

I think I am going to wait. I've found my first flaw in Exact Change. It had this coin listed at about $280 in F. I posted this as soon as I saw the coin with a buy it now of £38. I did a quick search on the bay for the same coin and turned up tons of responses for cheap. I checked the good old RedBook and yep, much cheaper. I would love to put on the good hunt, but being overseas... I've got the bay and antique stores full of UK coin and one or two US mixed in. I'm just going to have to wait and find it on the bay in good enough shape. Thanks for all of the quick replies though. That could have been really really bad.

The coin appears to be a solid G4 or G6 that has not been cleaned. This is a typical wear pattern for original Barber coinage. However, it is worth only around $10 as is.

I agree with G-4 maybe 6. No liberty visible in the head band, and no letters in the banner in the eagles mouth (unless its just the photos). No more than $10. I also agree that if you wait, you'll be able to find one you like more, and for a little more $ you could get a really nice one that you like much more.

I'm in agreement with all but I would offer a little less due to condition. But that's me.

It actually sold for $25. That's where is rough encasing US coins in the uk. Some goes for way more than it should. And then I've been able to buy lots of silver at spot.
