The lighting in your images is causing some issues. The details here look AU+. 53 easy and probably 55. The surfaces look lightly cleaned but market acceptable from what I can tell.

This coin is far more desirable, condition wise, than the CC dime you posted.

I agree that the lighting is making this coin difficult to interpret. Did you notice the die clash between the O and N on the reverse? This is the obverse shield.

forgetting in-hand eye appeal shots, and to review surface questions, do these types of shots help or are they annoying?
no answers ever hurt my feelings

more importantly, for variety purposes, check out the first shot with the wicked die crack running from Liberty's foot, through the "A" and into the top of the "C" and seeming to die out as it approaches the dentil

Per Fortin

Quote:
Comments: This date requires further research, since only eleven obverse dies have been categorized against a historical
mintage of 2,500,000+ pieces. The examples in the author's collection rarely exhibit die cracks, indicating a potential for the Philadelphia mint to have generated a low average mintage per die pair. Without the aid of die cracks as a diagnostic, the date position, misplaced digits and repunching are the primary die designators. It is worth mentioning again that well struck higher grade 1885 dimes are challenging to locate and not as available as the date's mintage would suggest.
