I'm just blown away @ the quality of photos, but really impressed @ the overall layout/presentation that specksynder & brg5658 brought to the table here...VERY NICE PICS!!! Adding the GRADING CARD in the middle is an amazing, nice touch, but the pic with the penny with the reflection is just WOW!
As for the cameras I use: besides the 800x usb microscope pics, I use a Canon T3i & a 100mm macro lens on a Bogen-Manfrotto Mini Repro stand w/4 lights, but usually only use 2 lights mostly...1 @ 10ish & the other @ 1ish... I try to play with the setting & havent really found "THE SETTING" for me yet...

Quote: Is that the Printing-Nikkor? That was with a fairly modest ($50) Nikon 4x Plan 0.1 objective.

Here is one of my pics with a point and shoot Olympus. I'm not certain this is my best or favorite but I always linger a bit when it comes up:

eddio: Here is somewhat the same example of your nickel... I have learnt this is possibly a lamination (or delamination) error...

You know, I'm going to drop this into the Main Coin Forum for better exposure - what we're doing here is about the coins as much as the images, and maybe we can create a few new photographers that way. If you push me to it, I'm going to have to call the below my "favorite" shot. It's as much the coin as the pic.

Good call pushing it to the main forum. This thread achieved a life of its own and there are some phenomenal coins being shown, and like you, it's hard for me to separate my favorite coin photos from my favorite coins.

This thread is doing its darndest to shame me into upgrading my lo-tech hand-held tabletop system. Sorry to lower the bar so far, but these are the best of the results from handholding my 14-year-old, 1.2 mp Sony Mavica. It's an ebay workhorse relic that functions fine and for the price of a dSLR I could buy a great coin.. There are some *amAzing* pics in this thread.

My style is freehand with natural light, contrasting the fantastic precision approach of many awesome members. It's just fun playing with a camera. Here are my two favorite: Keep the pictures coming!

Maybe I should spend time learning my camera. Got the t3i but haven't really tried anything yet.

Nice photos everyone! Makes me realize my P&S is a POS,and perhaps I should upgrade equipment instead of coins this year.

My photos were all taken with a P&S, you don't need an amazing camera to take workable pictures, it's all about the set-up. There are many guys here to help with making fine tuned adjustments. Heck, I'm still learning from them!

I see your pics and those of mysilvery years are quite impressive. An investment in time will leave more money for coins. To start I should visit the Coin Photography section of the forum regularly Here's my best so far.
