Was somewhat disappointed with this Dino coin. 3 out of the 5 I ordered had defects. One has a scratch on the Queen's neck (with green showing underneath); one has a paint blotch & funny-looking bumps on the Dino side of the coin, and one has a big black blotch on the Queen's mouth. The other 2 are ok. So I'm sending back 3 out of 5. Mint sent them out quicker but sloppy mistakes like these shouldn't happen. Also, because of the higher mintage the market is flooded with them, so the value is going down (at least for now)..Hopefully the mintage won't increase again with the next release.

I did point this concern out in other thread. But people seems do not care about it much.
In general, if you get 5 coins (from PO or other sources), there will be 2 or 3 out of 5 coins are defected. sometimes in the front, sometimes in the back.

There is nothing much we could do even if we care, except hoping for the best and returning the coins for exchange if there is defect. It is not like we could ask CP or the Mint to "Hand Select" our Dino.
BTW, what will CP or the Mint do with the returned coins? For those who have their orders fill late, would they be getting the returned (and defective coins) and could only get a refund since the coin is/will be sold out? Or even if exchange is possible they would keep getting the defective leftovers?

i would assume that they produce an extra amount of every issue, just for defective coins. weather it be 5-8% above the production run, that is why they issue replacement certificates I think. imho.

These seem to be selling decently on ebay and my local post office seems to have quite a few of them. What do you guys think in terms of price once the third in the series is released?

I think you'll regret not buying them, when the 3rd and 4th coin come out the second one will have pretty good value. I'm keeping a bunch until the next one comes out. You can bet alot of the big dealers will be holding a bunch until the others are released, they do it for a reason, they know they'll get a better price later.

@TheOne
I went to Vancouver boutique for the second dino this afternoon, but I only managed to get 1 from there. I almost checked 10 of them. There was only one without obvious defect. The salesperson looked at my strangely. Maybe he thought I was a picky customer. Yes, I do. As a coin collector, we should do like this. I can tell he does not collect coins, because he can not understand what we think. It is not just a coin as he said. So, very disappointed to see the quality of the secnd dino. In fact, I found same problem with the first dino too.

You were correct elkslayer132 the Perth Mint released their glow-in-the-dark coin. I am surprised it is not sold out, they only made 7,500 coins. Thanks for the tip days ago.
