Thanks - I was thinking close to AU since it does not have much of the luster that I have seen on some Jeffersons, but I thought it was a good strike coin as I have not seen many visible steps on 1938 coins.

No, I did not use a scanner, I used my cellphone camera and a loupe with the cellphone to try and get the steps.

Looks XF kind of. But also kind of like an AU one.

So I going to say XF. Hair got some wear marks that show out.
