I have a few key date coins, 1932d Washington, 1950d Jefferson, but until now, I've never had a major key date coin. Well, I recently got married and as a gift to my self, I decided to purchase a nice coin. My options were pretty open, but as my collecting is focused on Flying Eagle and Indian Head cents, I decided to get the big one out of the way. I spent a few weeks looking and searching and found one I am very happy with. It has nice detail and great surfaces. It is graded VG8 by NGC and is CAC approved. The only major one I need now is the 1909s. Here are some pics. The scratches in the pic are on the holder, not the coin. The coin is also a nice medium brown although the pictures make it look like the coin is two different colors.

David,

CONGRATS to both your major events. The '77 is wonderful. Maybe you can save the 1909-S for the birth of your first child together (if that is the plan, that is)?

Congratulations on your wedding. You should have bought the 1909 S as a wedding present for your wife! I think etiquette says you have up to a year after the ceremony to send someone a wedding present...

That looks like a really nice coin. The 1877 is also far tougher, in my opinion, than the 1909-S IHC.

Thanks for the great comments! I think after the 1877, it should be down hill from here.
