Recently picked this up from a fellow member at the Orlando FUN show. Going in my 7099.
It has fantastic eye appeal in hand despite the light, even porosity.
My concern is the reverse. I'm thinking verdi-care and carefully picking at it.
Love to hear your thoughts

I think you would get good results with Verdi-Care. I have had good luck using a toothpick and a q-tip dipped in Verdi-Care and spot treating vs. soaking the entire coin. You can work very gently to avoid any surface damage to the coin. Specifically - I would dip the q-tip in Verdi-Care and dab onto the coin. Allow to sit for a couple of minutes - re-dab if necessary. Then use the toothpick to loosen the verdigris and a dry q-tip to remove it from the coin. You can always repeat if needed so go slow at first.

Love the obverse of that coin!

Whatever you decide to do, don't 'pick at it'. It will leave pits.

Great find Dave. The obverse detail is beautiful

I'll be interested in seeing your results - good luck! I've not had much luck with verdi-care, but your post reminds me that I should try it one more time. I'll follow KenKat's instructions and see what happens.

Thanks guys!
Yeah, KenKats idea sounds good.
No pickin', just spot soak and see what happens .

You can use a wooden toothpick and dip it in the Verdi-Care to soften it a bit and then gently use it to work the verdigris loose. No picking just a gentle nudge.

Very nice. Once that nasty green monster is arrested she will look great in a 7099!

A copper buddy of mine prefers using thorns. I've yet to try it though as toothpicks have worked for me.

Very nice pick Dave. That girl still has a lot of detail. I'll be interested to see your results after a verdi-care treatment.

Makes me wonder; was that even porosity the result of verdigris, removed by someone when BadThad was but a glint in his father's eye, to reveal clean surfaces, that were virgin territory for more verdigris?
