Is there any way to identify the date on this ? Does nic-a-date work or is that only for Buff's ?

It's funny what the usb camera brings out. I couldnt see squat using a loupe. I do know that it has a Denver mint mark.

At first look I saw a 1927, but I can also see what may be an 8. Nic-A-Date won't work on these - only nickels.

I thought 27 also but looking at IndianGoldEagle's pic and then comparing it to mine, I can see the inside dots of the eight.

Years ago a friend of mine showed me that putting Nic-a-Date candidate Buffaloes underneath his camera lens's detacheable polarizing filter made it so you could read the dates on the nickels. Since I assume the principle behind it was simply that the lens was blocking out half the natural glare from ambient light, it might/should work on an SLQ or any other coin. Although I am sure some are just too worn to have this work.

I have often wondered if some digital cameras do not have some polarizing elements in them since I have noticed their abilities, at times, to bring out details like this.
