Hi all, a friend at work wants me to try to find out more about this Lincoln. I have a pretty good idea as to what I think it is, but I thought that it would be interesting to post and see what others make of it.
Looks to me like someone is trying to mint their own coins with an arbor press.... Made a "mold" of some type and then starting pressing? Just a very un-educated guess...
Thanks for the replies everyone. The outer ring is copper, and from the obverse it makes it look quite intereting. I have seen cents encased in silver dollar sized aluminum, lucky horseshoes, but never anything like this.
Perhaps someone had it done as a "lucky penny"? Interesting piece, nonetheless.
