So I have this crazy idea to help me cut out sweets. A few years ago, I all but cut out all sweets and pop, and never really looked back until I began working at a job that was slow, and where I had easy access to vending machines.
I am slowly moving back towards healthy snacking and avoiding boredom eating, and I have devised a plan to help, that will also spread some numismatic love!
So, here it is, in point form:
1) Fishscale nickels are relatively cheap at my local dealer, likely at around a $1 each in bulk. 2) I will buy 20-30 at a time, and put them in a jar. 3) Once per week, I will remove X from the jar, and place an "IOU" in it to buy X more the following week to replace those taken out. 4) Any time I eat a sweet or drink pop, outside one day per week where I will allow an indulgence, I will give a random person a fishscale nickel, and explain it's significance in brief. 5) That's it!
Essentially, I plan to add on a $1 "tax" to any sweets I consume, and spread some rarely seen coins in the process! I suspect many would end up in circulation, but I can imagine some people finding them endlessly fascinating. Thoughts?
