EddieDiz to CCF! I've never purchased from G (his coins are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of my range) but I've run into him on the forum a few times and he's a pretty cool guy. I think you'll be pleased. A sidenote, what do people think of mentioning in an ebay listing that you're a member of CCF? Good, bad, indifferent, easy way for other CCF'ers to find your stuff but not much good otherwise?

If I want to buy from a CCFer I click on the links here (and have done so many times). IMHO putting that on ebay might not be a great idea.

I know that members often post coins here to get opinions to sell on ebay. But the majority of those members also contribute to other threads and give back knowledge to the forum. I would hate to see the CCF brand become a marketing brand to those who are not contributing members. There would not be anything that would stop non-CCF members from making the claim of membership just to try to give an authoritative reference to their listing. Additionally, consider the fact that the forum does make it easy to find CCF sellers on ebay and other sites. I have used these links just to check in to see what they are selling on ebay so I just do not feel it would be necessary to put it out on ebay. This is just my opinion as a buyer. I do not sell so sellers may have a different perspective on all of this. Edited for grammar.

Actually,CoinsKelly makes a good point. Someone could use the CCF membership as self-promotion to appear forthright.

Well, there is a workaround: Send the ebay seller a polite message, asking if he or she is a member of the CCF. or Have a coded version: Member BBE instead of CCF. ( ref. 2001 Space Odyssey - HAL instead of IBM ) Eddie, I cross-linked this topic to your picture in "All members, post your most recent US coin purchases."

That is funny,Matthewvincent. I remember Hal(was it Hal-9000?). Actually,I didn't give a proper description of the reverse. It should have been 15 star reverse,no it is a 13 star not as described reverse,no wait a minute it IS a 15 star reverse.

Great outcome to a potentially nightmarish scenario. The errors that the 1st buyer made are so ridiculous that it makes one think that the person was definitely a con artist. Beautiful coin by the way.

I know g went through a lot of anguish and I am happy it worked out the way it did. I just wanted to sum up the unfortunate chain of events.

According to the tracking info, the coin was delivered this afternoon. I will check the mail on the way out(I work 11PM-7AM) and give my assessment when I get home in the morning.

I checked my mail on the way to work last night and there was the coin. All I have to say is WOW! I don't know how anyone that half-way knows what they are looking at could return it. I would have eaten baked beans for 2 months if I had to to keep it. There are 15 stars on the reverse if you knew where the 2 are hidden and the 1799/8 over-date. It has solid vf-35 details and the scratch on the reverse was more apparent in the pictures than in hand. The scratch doesn't take much at all away from the eye appeal. It is about as close to looking like a problem free coin as you can get and still have damage.
