I bought this coin: http://www.ebay.com/itm/33086380321....m1497.l2649To fill my book, the seller took awhile to ship the coin. I used paypal. I think mu coin will come in the mail today sometime but it been over ten days. I feel completely unhappy with the shipping but it was free. So I don't like leaving Negative feedback. But should he get positive feedback IF the coin is nice? I have ran int problems with buying a video game screen. The guy sold me a Chinese knock-off junk. I put the video game system all back together to find out the screen was messed up. ( Yes I did test it but it looked fine) So I sent it back then he sent me a new one. The other one he sent me wasn't that great. It's just a Chinese knock-off. I still left positive because my video game system works but not the best. Edited by solotime 02/11/2013 2:05 pm

I wouldn't leave negative feedback just over slow shipping. Negative feedback hits hard and seems extreme in this situation unless you don't receive the coin.
There is an opportunity to rate shipping speed when you leave feedback under Detailed Seller Ratings. You could bump them down a couple of stars there. I tend to go relatively easy on sellers if I like the coin.
I would tend to go easy on the seller on shipping speed since it was free economy shipping.

Slow shipping is not grounds for non-positive feedback IMO as long as the coin is as advertised. As has already been mentioned, that's what the shipping time DSR is for. You also cannot fault a seller for USPS messing up, which happens sometimes. What I do is look at when the item was postmarked. If it is postmarked 1-2 business days after payment is received, I do 5 stars. 3 business days, 4 stars. 4 business days, 3 stars. 5 business days, 2 stars. Anything worse, 1 star. You'll find that almost all sellers ship 1-2 days and delays are more often USPS's fault. 95% of my purchases have been 5 star shipping time by my rubric and I've never had a situation that went below 3 stars.

Back on Jan 14, I shipped out a coin via USPS Registered mail: Tracking #: RB955689037USCarrier: USPS Status: ACCEPTEDIN TRANSITDELIVERED Depart USPS Sort Facility

Processed at USPS Origin Sort Facility
2013-01-14, 18:47:00, SAN BERNARDINO, CA 92403
Dispatched to Sort Facility
2013-01-14, 16:25:00, PALM SPRINGS, CA 92262
Acceptance

As you can see, it was last in San Bernardino 4 weeks ago. Apparently the USPS has lost the item. The buyer just left me positive feedback and a 5 DSR on shipping time as I had shipped immediately. It was not my fault the USPS failed to deliver it. Perhaps the same thing is happening with your shipment and the seller is not at fault.

I agree that slow shipping is not a reason for negative feedback. Yes, maybe this seller is a bit lazy but sometimes there are extenuating circumstances. Once I waited a long time for a coin and asked the seller to explain the slow service. He said he was elderly and trying to sell his collection for some much needed income. He didn't drive and had to get someone to drive him to the post office once a week.

Heck I've been waiting for one since November, an 1871 Prince Edward penny (it was beautiful too). Lol it's origin is Israel and the guy refunded my money. The package never did start tracking and neither of us has seen hide nor hair of it since. I told him if it ever shows up I will pay him but I doubt it will ever get here. The farthest before that transaction was an item from England and it took a cpl weeks.

If you read the sale shipping times, it clearly states 5-12 business days. Seeing as how the sale ended on a Friday afternoon, it could be there as late as the 19th. So......... while the seller is slow, you have no recourse but to wait. Also not a bad deal on the nickel. If everything is as agreed upon and the terms were followed, there is no reason to leave anything but a positive experience rating. Now go take a (relaxation substance or method) and start on your next coin conquest !

If he only took 5 days to ship, and he specifically lists 5-12 business days, then I am not sure why this is even a question. ZERO reason to do anything less than 5 stars. He did exactly what he said he would do.

I bought several things the last week of December. They were all shipped with tracking. All but one got here within a few days. The other one took almost 2 weeks. Tracking showed it was in the USPS system within 36 hours of the purchase date. It also showed it bouncing between 3 sort facilities within the state of origin for the next week, hitting each one at least twice. Point is it might not be the sellers fault.

Here's his respond: Dear whiteman2, Hi, You should have it right away, I have the receipt from thre Post Office, I'll check on it for you. Thanks Again @smokeriderdon, How would you feel if you paid for the item with paypal and the seller don't ship your item for five days then sends it out? Like did he really have to wait five days? I bought coins before paid for them. Next day they were shipped. I really didn't see he used domestic shipping. I saw free shipping so I just bidded. My max bid was 20 dollars. I won't leave negative feedback if the coin is the real one he pictured. I won't leave negative with anyone unless they really need it. I was kind of just mad my coin isn't here yet. I want to fill my Buffalo nickel folder by now. I'm still waiting on one more Buffalo nickel from a different guy. He didn't ship it and it has been 3 days. I going to message him after I'm done typing my message to your unmannerly post. Like if you don't have anything nice to say why post in my thread? And please don't post back in here.

Okay...I just GOTTA say this and then I'll just take my lumps if you folks want to beat me up, but this seller is a crock of crud. First off..."Estate Sale"...? C'mon....that is the most overused slice of baloney on ebay next to "unsearched". Does anybody really believe he's auctioning off coins from an ESTATE? My guess would be a flea market pick up. Solotime: You are totally aware, aren't you, that your coin and all the Buffalo nickels he's selling have been chemically restored? Not that there's anything wrong with that...I sell those on ebay all the time...but his description that "it looks to have been dipped or treated" is totally disengenuous. He KNOWS exactly how it came to look like that. Free economy shipping is no excuse for a coin showing up as much as 12 days after you've paid for it - if seller and buyer both reside in the USA. I offer free economy shipping and I guarantee you my customers are all getting their coins inside of 5 business days...usually in two or 3. I like Hesgut's sliding scale of what type of rating to leave, but if I was on the 12 day receipt end of the scale, and there were no extenuating circumstances like a Post Office screw up, I wouldn't bother leaving him a feedback at all, assuming I was happy with the coin. Advertising that delivery will occur within 5-12 days of payment just grants him license to ship it when he feels like it.
