Exactly my thoughts, commems. Lots of people liked the idea of the glow in the dark coin but since many of the purchasers of this first coin were not likely collectors, they probably don't have the same interest level in the second release. If the mint removes the purchase limit, the last thing I would do is buy more. It seems like a bad sign to me.

I agree many non collectors bought this coin. But so did many collectors, like us on this board. Therefore this has attracted more buyers to complete the set.

3 was a stupid number. This is a common coin, and an inexpensive coin, that appeals to all types of collectors. It is also a novelty. Anybody who wanted 10, or 20 or even 100 got them from other sources. But the limit of 3 drove people to other retailers to buy 4 or 5 coins, thus reducing their sales. I think the post office stole a huge amount of sales that the mint was expecting.
As for the popularity of the coin, that will come over time. It's only been for sale for a little over a week. This is not going to be the hit the first one was, but there will be a demand for it. I don't expect this coin to sell over $100 but it will demand a premium. My problem is I wanted to buy 6 coins and could not do so. I ended up getting my coins from the post office. Stupid policy, I could understand if this coin were limited to 5000 or 10000 but no need for such a low limit.

If canadapost didn't open sales to the public early with free shipping, I bet it would've already sold out at the mint. Just my opinion.

IMO, this is part of the Mint 'supporting the secondary market' while pandering to the complains of casual collectors who didn't order the first coin. First point; the Mint's limits allow dealers to sell many more of these coins than they would if the Mint had no limits. They are effectively transferring some of their profits to those companies and that helps them stay in business. They are also propping up an aging entity that could be the subject of the next GID extinct series - Canada Post. My biggest concern there is that they appear to have have allocated a very high percentage of the mintage to those dealers. Why should the RCM (a taxpayer owned organization) subsidize CP or Steve Bromberg or Colonial Acres or Gatewest etc?!? Secondly, the mint has yielded to complaints from people who clearly are not dedicated collectors. The first dino was available at issue for at least a week. Anyone who was truly a collector knew about it and bought it. Anyone else, either didn't see the value or is not really a coin collector. Again this time, there will be complaints because contrary to belief of some, the general public didn't know that the coin was available last week from CP Philatelic Centre or even that the coin is available now. The Mint does a lousy job of marketing new releases as we all have seen and they even censor news of new releases so how would people know about it? The coin will sell out at the Mint. Keep in mind, it's only the first week of general release - on par with the sales of first coin. Demand will grow as the word gets out to those ancillary folks. The question is will that demand be enough to exhaust the supply being amassed by flippers. Only time will tell.

with CC-Ottawa Quote: Anyone who was truly a collector knew about it and bought it. Anyone else, either didn't see the value or is not really a coin collector. The average person did see the value, after it started selling for a premium on ebay. Then they wanted one to, but it was too late. It's not that people wanted the coin for it's novelty or to collect it, it was because they wanted to profit from flipping it also. When they couldn't they got angry and sent it hate mail to the mint.

I bought some for "short term investment" purposes, but at $30 per coin it will be easy to hang onto a few as well.

I had placed order for the 2nd dino both with CP and Mint.
I would like to cancel to 5 coins. Should I do it with CP or Mint?
Thanks

Despite low limits and "idiotic" policies, Dino is sold out at RCM!

Prehistoric Creature - 25-Cent Coloured Glow-in-the-dark Coin (2013) shown "Awaiting Stock" so is the "Special Wrap Roll - 1-Cent Coins (2012)"...does it mean it is SOLD OUT 100%?

I was on the telephone with Canada Post to cancel my 5 Dino coins. Funny enough, while looking at the RCM website, I saw that it was "awaiting stock". Maybe I should hold onto the 5 coins. What do you people think?
