I have almost completed the project. I received the two blank Dansco DC and Territories pages today and experimented with ways to remove the printing. I tried Acetone, but it didn't do any better than my previously documented method of mixing tan and brown acrylic paint together to match the color of the page. I did, however, find a MUCH better solution! I will get some pictures together and put this project to rest in a few days. The coins I need to finish this project should be here Wednesday.

OK, here's my attempt at some albums to hold the satin coins of 2005-2010. There's no labelling inside yet and I'm still considering how to go about that. I'm leaning towards acetate pages that I can print the coin information on, punch holes in it like looseleaf paper and insert between album pages, so they will lay flat on top of album pages, with the properly layed-out IDing the coins underneath. (Really, why make it easy?)

I'll definitely follow Lars' lead and do the gold lettering for the outside of the albums.

My satins are in two albums, cents through quarters and Halves/dollars. There are some pages with "unfilled holes", and my approach is to acquire extra satins and put them to display their reverses. Since I did use a pre-printed Territories page for those quarters, my quarters are a bit out of order: '05, '06, '07, '08, '10, '09. Oh well.

Oh, and there are still holes for a bunch of the 2008 coins. Although I've got the nickels, dimes, and halves from '08, I gotta get my hands on a mint set from that year to wrap up the rest. So, this is definitely a work in progress.

Satin Cents through quarters album:

Here is my final product. The two empty ports are due to a shipping error in a recent purchase (wrong mint mark). Those coins are on the way, but this should be sufficient to document the results. (NOTE: My set is NON-Satins since I collect mint sets, but this strategy could just as easily be used to collect the 2005-2010 Satin finish coins like billymac11 did).

I went with 3 binders so I wouldn't have to split up the quarters and to allow for possible future expansion (who knows what the Mint has up their sleeve next)!

I have some images and notes about removing the printing from a Dansco page that I will upload in the near future.

PLEASE NOTE: All red toning of the coins, pages, and labels are from the scanner.

Lars,

I gotta say, it's looking even better. The more I look at it, the more the blocked out empty slots look so neat and clean. I'm likin' it.

Thanks, billymac, but I like your millimeter pages for nickels and dimes more. I bought those and the page for half dollars. I will post images of the FINAL final product when I get a few more items in, plus I have a new twist you might like as well!

So, finally, a month later, here's some pics of my final assemblage of a 2005-2010 Satin Issues album. When it comes to the quarters, I don't know why I didn't just get the pre-printed Dansco pages for the Statehood Quarters, but I did do that for the territory quarters, which are therefore out of order in my book. Oh well. I will likely pick up those pages and swap them out for consistency in the near future.

There are two albums: cents through quarters and half dollars/dollars. Most pages are blank pages with coin identifying information lined up and printed on clear plastic transparencies, trimmed to size for the albums and layed in between album pages.
