Very nice, billymac. I mailed that 31mm page and pleather today. I hope to post an updated album tonight with the new MM pages and another twist you may really like once you get the pleather.

I completed the upgrade to my 2005-2010 Satin albums based mainly on what I learned from billymac. I'll try to highlight the differences:

PENNIES

Billymac and I still treat the pennies differently (he used a Dansco MM page, I used a blank Pennies page), but I modified mine somewhat to show some reverses. I still have a LOT of ports to blank out and he still has to "double-up" coins in two ports, so neither solution is optimal.

The neat thing about using pleather to block out ports is that you can block out just the back, so I showed the reverse from the front of the page, but blocked the coin out from the back of the page:

NICKELS

This is where the 21MM page makes a LOT more sense than the blank Nickel page! When I saw billymac's, I immediately ordered one myself!

DIMES

Same story here. Billymac had the right idea with an 18MM page:

QUARTERS

This is another area where billymac and I offer two different solutions. I went with buying a complete State Quarters album just to get pages 4 and 5, then added a DC and Territories page and a BLANK DC and Territories page. I turned the blank DC and Territories page upside-down and used "Goof-Off" (very carefully) to remove the printing:

It's a bit more expensive to buy the Statehood Quarters album just for the last 2 pages, but I thought it was worth it. A bonus of doing it this way is that you can rip apart the first 3 pages of the Statehood Quarters album and create more pleather than you will need to block out unused ports elsewhere!

HALF DOLLARS

billymac will be the first to admit that he missed this solution. I didn't even know MM pages existed until billymac showed me a MUCH better way to display the nickels and dimes of this series, so I did a little investigation and found that a 30MM page works PERFECTLY for the Kennedy halves!

SACAGAWEA DOLLARS

Might as well get the blank Sacagawea page since the MM page has the same number of ports:

US-Satin-Finish-2005-2010-Coins-In-Dansco-Albums---With-Pix!

PRESIDENTIAL DOLLARS

The blank Presidential dollars pages work perfectly, so no need for MM pages here:

I don't know how that old photo with Madison missing got in the mix, but I've spend enough time documenting this already so I'm going to let it slide!

I want to add one note about using "Goof Off" to remove the printing from a Dansco page. It can be done, and you can see the results on the reverse side of the ATB Quarters page (look at the bottom and upper right where page designation is found - I didn't fully remove that because I realized it wouldn't show once the page was place in the album). However, you must use GREAT CARE! I suggest trying the page designation first. If you mess that up, no worries.

Apply 2 or 3 drops of Goof Off to the area with text, wait a second or two, and GENTLY wipe it off with a clean lint free cloth. Always wipe inward to the center of the text so you don't spread any ink beyond the original boundaries. If you ever detect the slightest stickiness, STOP! You are beginning to dissolve the brown pleather texture. It took me 20 to 30 GENTLE passes to remove the text from that page, and I always used a clean swatch from the lint-free rag for each iteration. BE PATIENT!

Lars, I got that 31mm page and thanks for that. While it has little wiggle room for a half dollar, I wound up moving my satin halves from the page with 8 extra slots to this one. I think it looks way better this way, although I was partial to displaying some of the reverse with extra coins I had on hand. Thank you very much!!

It's much nicer this way. Much cleaner looking.

Where DID you get gold transfer lettering? I cannot find it in brick and mortars or online to save my life.

The gold lettering on the album spine is Chartpak 1/4" GOLD CAPS. I get mine from http://www.duall.com/store/product/...yl-caps.html

You will also need http://www.duall.com/store/product/...numbers.html

That should do it!

So, the gold lettering on your album spines is vinyl, not transfer lettering? That's where I went wrong. I din't think vinyl would look right, but from your photographs on page 2, they look great: I had assumed they were the rub-off transfer style (old school!). I will order from that site and make my albums complete. Thanks for that!

There is good and bad with the vinyl lettering. The good part is the ability to slightly reposition letters when applying, or to remove them and replace them easily. The bad part is that occasionally a single letter will get damaged from use and have to be replaced. I used them on 22 stamp albums in addition to the 3 coin albums and have been happy with the results.
