Its a stunning coin. There is a few smudges on the obverse by the looks of it though. Still very very rare.

The reason I am hard on mint sport coins is that some unethical, fraudulent clown is using public property to produce one off coins that they make a lot of money from. I am a public servant and cant use the photocopier to print 1000 fliers for a home business, that would be stealing, just as producing 'error coins' is IMO.

Hear, hear......

Likewise, I have no problems with error planchet coins as it is perfectly feasible that they could have been mixed into a batch of the correct planchets - seeing as the same company makes blanks for many countries' coins - but in the case of that 20c on a dollar planchet, the coin is absolutely unmarked, so cannot have gone through the normal minting process, but probably smuggled out in the steel toe cap of an employee's boot.......

So, is the 1977 COA 50c a legit trial piece? Suspect not, but even if it is, how have the Mint let it out?
Wasn't one of these confiscated back in the 1980s?

Rumour has it that staff at security companies divy up error coins that are spat out by their rolling/bagging machines. Coins are shipped in bulk to security companies who roll/bag them and are supposed to ship error coins back to the RAM. Supposedly they do not. This is how so many double struck $2 coins got onto the market in mint or very near mint state, most of them through the same dealer in Sydney. Clearly someone was feeding him the coins.

I'd guess exactly the same thing is happening with other more modern errors.

re the double header.

Consider the seller's completed listings and compare the images available for those listings to the image presented of the DH.

Seller appears to have gone to some trouble to ensure a poor quality image.

Buyer beware! All the questions that have been asked after the event should have been asked before!

I really want the indent penny so hands off! Lol

I am considerig having a go at the 10c on 2c as well.

I think you will have a heap of competition for that 77 coa, just not from me though. Id be lucky to be able to afford the opening bid I reckon.
