Well, I think the mint can release everything they want, the demand is here... I collect coins since 2007, and I see lots of new people since then and I think it's like the stock market, once it's getting popular, the market seems inevitably drop. Just look at the Lego collectible, they release so much new themes and stuff because the people asking for them... So, a 50 cent coin for 14.95? Why not, I'm sure they will sell lot of them... I you were the owner of the Mint, you'll do the same think and cath the popularity when it show up... As a collector of coins, I buy because I like the design or the look of the coins, not to resell them to make money... But at this time, maybe the market is 50/50 between reel collector and people who want to do some money...

I can see why people might think this Mallard could be the start of a new series on ducks. It seems to be a departure from the Mint's previous procedure to be releasing two coins in the series at once. Who knows?

What I do know is the Mint really seems to be "doing" ducks in a big way! These two Mallards, along with the Blue-winged Teal in the 2013 specimen set. These, plus the two recent hummingbird coins certainly are giving bird lovers something to collect. I just wish they were more circulation-style!

The Mallard coin can be a popular one.... since there's a good amount of people involve in duck hunting & duck calling sport..... It would be interesting to know if this is going to be a series (better) or just a single coin (not as great) release.

I really like the flower coin/series, but something has always held me back from collecting them.
