Not into medals but gotta admit, the details on these are stunning. Am I correct in assuming this is a combination if high craftsmanship and the use of such a large medal? Thanks for posting these beauties.

Masterful engravers with lots of time and resources can produce some wonderful works of art especially on large medals. My favorite by G. Bianchi, 1874 (82mm).

This is the last "MAX" (82mm) papal medal on my original want list. However, in the meantime, I've become smitten by the imagery of many of the smaller medals.
