au58 the photo is a little blurry. Cant tell if the kernels are there. there seems to be just a little wear on the hair just above the left brow. That could be the pic though. NICE PIECE.

In my humble opinion, it should be ms60.

I'm at au50 based on the loss in detail of the stars on the obverse between 1 and 3 o'clock.

This is a tough one based on these pictures (and I might be over thinking this). The weak nose, the lack of detail in the hair and the lack of marks on the devices of fields push me in the high AU to low MS range. The only marks is see are a couple of rim bumps but I do not think those are from circulation. I would be very interested in viewing clearer photos if possible. This is an interesting coin!

there are some weak spots in that coin that I would associate with wear I see EF45, it could possibly make AU but it would take clearer photos to judge.

Here is a few more pics. I'm taking them with my cell so its hard to get all the details in. I did one with a flash so you can see the hairlines better..

Quote: might be time to invest in a camera That's what I said...2 cameras ago. I found I was the problem! I have problems with lighting that I am still trying to work out. With the better pictures I am at XF - AU.

I am in the same boat, but I think we are rowing in opposite directions! I would throw out an AU53-55 grade on this NC Liberty nickel. I would say that the stars on the right were a product of an uneven strike, not so much as wear.

Thanks for the opinions everyone. The coin looks great under a 16x magnification. My real concern with it was if it looked cleaned at all.. It almost looks like some uneven toning across the cheek...Best way to describe is like it was smeared a bit.
ds- I'm getting one of those soon! Thanks for the info!!

If you're gonna get a USB microscope, go through all the threads about them in the photography section here at CCF.
