Hepcat New Member Canada 24 Posts	Posted 02/21/2013 3:43 pm The Royal Canadian Mint has been issuing numerous gold and silver coins displaying a holographic image for several years now. This fifty cent butterfly coin from earlier this century is a good example: How does the Mint get the holographic image though? Is it just a case of doing multiple misaligned strikes, or is some foreign material such as plastic or glass applied to the coin alloy during the striking process? wettld2 Valued Member Canada 269 Posts	Posted 02/21/2013 3:53 pm I am pretty sure that they do it by making several strikes to the surface of the coin.... whether it is intentionally misaligned or not I can't say for sure. Report this Post to the Staff
