Hello All,

As said on previous topic, I need to return 2 coins to CP due to the damage of the clamshell case.

Call 1-800-565-4362 yesterday. They file the return on their system and give the Return Number (RN). They said I do not need to pay to ship it back to CP return center. Just put the coins in the original parcel and write the return number on the top or side of the box and bring it to the PO.

Today I bring it to my local small PO (not the big outlet), the clerk said I need to pay for it or need I pre-paid postage from CP in order to get free shipping.

I call the 1-800-565-4362 right away and let the PO clerk talks to the customer service. After talk, the PO clerk told me that she has never have this return case before.

She said I can take the risk just drop off the box and send it like this way. but she can't give me any receipt or proof of sending this parcel.

Should I send it like this without guarantee or pay for the shipping for safety.

Anyone has experience like this situation before? Please help.

Many Thanks

Sorry for the long writing.

I'd pay and put the receipt in the box.
You can't just bring it to a post office and expect them to ship it for free. Lol

Free ship back. That is what the CP return center told me on phone. I think a member in this forum also return his coin like this way.

Hope he reads this topic.

The clerk said she can ship it back to CP center for me no problem. Just do not have the receipt or proof of return.
She is very nice. She worry I will lost my money in case the parcel get lost.

Anyway. I will try the bigger postal outlet tomorrow.

I'm suprised they don't get you to pay and put the receipt in the box and then reimburse you. That's what the mint does. I've never heard about bringing it to a canadapost outlet and having that outlet pay to send it back. I guess if they do it that's great, but from what you've said the outlets don't know much about this return method.

I had that happen to me one time and I was able to convince the PO to accept it in the original box. Since then I always open my CP shipments from the bottom.... that way if I need to return it then it doesn't appear to have been opened.

I had a similar problem with Canada Post. I ordered 5 Dino coins. When the parcel arrived, it was left on my doorstep in the snow. That was the first problem as well as a violation. If it doesn't fit in the mailbox, leave a card. Second, the box had a huge dent. Inside the box out of the 5 coins, 1 case was pressed together and couldn't be opened. The second case was scratched. Out of the remaining 3 coins, 2 outer boxes were either ripped or bent severerly. I called Canada Post and they issued me a RAN number I believe. I put the coins back in the box with the number written on the receipt as well as the outside of the box. I circled the sender's address and marked, "RETURN TO SENDER".

I hope that helps. Either way, Canada Post shouldn't charge you unless you want a new tracking number.

Did you pay by credit card? If so, you should be covered for loss or theft within 30 days (standard on most cards). So if CP loses it, file it as lost. With mine I could leave a package on the bus and still get it replaced (within the limited time frame ~30 days), same goes for accidental damage, it's a great feature.
