Quote:With so much publicity and hype surrounding this roll I think it is time to dump them. It won't take long for fakes to show up. Even if they don't fake the #20,000 roll a cheep label and 50 cents worth of pennies will return $20 to $30. You fake a 1,000 or 2,000 roll, that would be $20,000 to $50,000. And your cost is only a few thousand dollars. Definitely worth doing. If fakes show up on ebay, the rolls will loose value quickly. They would show up selling from Asia or Europe. Might as well open them up and look for a 2013 penny. If you can fake a Rolex or an I-phone, this label is easy to fake. Anybody sell any rolls to China? Dooby- the US had collector penny rolls in special wrappers in 2009. The 2 roll set ($9.95 issue price) sold for years over $100, still gets a little under that. There were 100,000 of these 2 roll sets. So five times more than Canada and at least twice the resale price. Much more incentive to create fakes than the Canadian ones. Haven't heard of a single fake in 4 years.

2009 P&D MINT Lincoln Cent LOG CABIN PENNY TWO ROLL SET - That just means people are either afraid of opening the box or the fakes are that good. Easy label to fake. how would you even know if it was fake? Unless the label was printed on special paper like their money or with a special ink process its easy to fake. Edit. Don't some of these rolls have special pennies? Those are hard to fake.

Dooby I already sent a roll to my friend in China who owns a printing company. I'll send you some wrappers when I get them. JK of course. Why do you have to be so negative about these rolls?

I thought it was silly to pay $10 for a regular roll of pennies. Then I saw the US special roll and don't think we are being silly at all. The Americans are insane to pay $100 for a roll of pennies. To each his own.
I would not call it negativity, my job is to plan for worst case scenarios, so I guess its just easy for me to dream up these crazy fake label schemes. The mint did not do much to prevent fakes in this case. Holographic labels are easy to fake today. As someone mentioned before it would have been nice to have had a special privy mark on these coins.
As for being negative I ended up buying a couple rolls to resell. I won't keep any. But I think buying any more than ten to twenty is a risk. Maybe not, I hope I'm wrong.

The sky was falling in Russian! Did you see that dash cam footage? I'm not saying you should be prepared for the worst, but don't be ignorant to possible problems. If they are faking viagra pills, toys, silver coins, jeans and hand bags whats to stop anybody from faking a holographic sticker and a stupid label?

How would buying 20 rolls be a risk, more like a payday. It just seems to me you have negative things floating in your head about these rolls. At least your smart enough to grab a couple rolls. I don't even think buying 1000 at retail price would be a risk at all. I'm not saying saying the Chinese couldn't fake them, but would they bother. We could say the Chinesse could fake all NCLT products and we shouldn't buy any because we are worried about fakes.

Not in Canada, but I did have some guns and several thousand rounds of ammo when I lived in the US. I do keep a supply of food and water too, enough for two weeks. If anything go so bad that two weeks supplies is not enough, then I'm bugging out. Either way I think you would have to be a moron not too have at least three days food and water and batteries.

Quote: We could say the Chinesse could fake all NCLT products and we shouldn't buy any They are already faking Canadian SMLs. I won't buy one without weighing it first. Not all NCLT are worth faking and some are hard to fake. I'm not even sure what they would fake? most require cases, that makes it hard to fake. I would never buy a NCLT coin without a case or COA. Why would you spend $60 to fake a coin to make $100. I bet you guys don't even check you bills to see if they are fake. I used to live over seas and they won't even touch and US bills with any writing on them, wrinkles or tears. I don't know if its ignorance or complacency. Some of this stuff is just common sense.

Why would anyone bother? Your math is bad. The rolls are selling for $20 to $30 on ebay. Nobody is paying issue price right now. Lets say even at the lower rate that's 50 X $20 = $1,000 Now that's only one box, nobody would do that. Lets multiply again by 100 boxes, now its $100,000 and that's on the low end. Could be as high as $150,000. Your original cost was $2,500 for 100 - ($25) boxes of pennies. Why would anybody bother to turn $2,500 to $150,000? That's easy money. If the rolls go up in price, it gets even better.

You're hilarious, the easiest thing to copy would be the standard clamshell and COA.

Ah, but which coin is worth copying? Which NCLT coin is worth so much that it would be easy to make a copy. I would not even bother when I could copy bullion. Just look at the 1812 1/4oz gold coin. Someone made a good copy of that and they are selling like crazy, but no box and no proof finish. People still list it on ebay as though it is the 2,000 mintage proof coin. The timberwolf SML has been faked. I have seen tones of fake Morgan coins. Why would you bother to fake a NCLT and clamshell and the sleave when there are so many easier coins to fake.

Wouldn't the early bird coins be worth faking? I know they can make fake anything, they made fake toonies in Montreal. That's kinda my point, why would they bother making fake penny rolls. I beleive the 1/4oz gold coin was minted by RCM just in a bullion finish. 2 different products.
