Wasn't long ago, Bluejay was sold for around $50. Look at it now. I will not spend more than $50 for any of them .

@Sunfish: I'm just curious as how much were you looking to pay? It seemed like the winner had committed to buy the coin (started to bid on it since Feb 28).
I am just wondering how many members on here actually have a completed set so far? Anyone working on the series and still missing coins?
I just found out about this and getting to like them so I just bought the Chickadee & the 2012 coins. I may try to get the 2010 & 2011 design complete but not so sure about the 2007 & 2008..... :( It's interesting that even though the 2010 & 2011 mintage that are only 56% of the 2007 & 2008; however, the price for those latter coins are a lot cheaper than the older design....

I have the complete set since the start that the mint sell it... Quite lucky, I start to collect this series because It was 19.95 for the Hummingbird and quite curious to see how it looks in real. And I continue the series after even if it was not looking good at the start, I give it a chance... Now I'm very surprised to see how much people are willing to pay for those coins!

This set was very convert for a long while. It was only in 2011 when it started to take off. In the Ottawa Mint Boutique female washroom, they have a Nuthatch under the plexiglass sink countertop!. I am willing to bet, they had no idea of its value when they made that display sink counter. ;)

SA4H, I was willing to pay 325$ but stopped bidding at around 275$ as I had just won the Nuthatch. I am only missing the Cardinal and new Robin. 350$ for the cardinal is really steep

Well, if $345.00 + shipping for the cardinal is a good price, I feel much better about the 280.00 + shipping, GST & PST I paid for mine. I confess I really had a lot of buyer's remorse at the time. It didn't help that it's one of the priciest ones out there and the one I consider to be the least well done in the series. Sunfish, I hope you connect with a good deal!

Thanks for the luck Ravenzcoins. It seems as if all the earlier ones in the series goldfinch, hummingbird and woodpecker are catching up to the prices of the nuthatch and cardinal. Even the cardinal seems to be approaching nuthatch prices

Sound like it's very very challenging to complete the set.
I'm still wondering what happened to the remainder of the 25,000 coins out there. At such price, I think they would start flying out of closet....
Comparing this series vs other series such as the Flower series w/ Crystal, the bird series have a broader appeal (there are more male coin collectors vs female & bird-watching appeal to both sexes & capture the wildlife enthusiasts).
