Looks ok to me perhaps slightly overgraded. You seriously need to consider buyin from outside ebay though. At tht price its hardly a bargain.

If I had a known genuine '23 halfpenny, I wouldn't risk to sell it on ebay anyway, for fear of a low successful bid. The reason being that most of the possible buyers know that fakes are offered on ebay.

Kind of a circular argument, I guess.

That would leave me with bidding for one at a major public auction, where the best professional lot describers are found. Besides, their guarantee is more to be trusted, because their reputation depends on it. AND you get a receipt as record of your purchase.

I have kept the paperwork for all of my most valuable coins.

never ever buy valuable coins no ebay, you think you can get a better deal, but you are taking risk of losing all your money

Not sure about this one regards real or not. The big question mark for me is that it is listed on ebay. I'd rather not take the risk.

Also slightly off topic Sel, I thought that any coin over $500 we have to keep receipts for tax purposes. CGT and all that.

The coin looks genuine to me,grading is not too bad but the price is probably a
bit too high $900 - $1200 would be quite enough

Lots of my more valuable coins were acquired long before Capital Gains Tax was applied. In these cases, CGT does not apply.

When a valuable coin comes up for public auction, I'll betcha any coin acquired post CGT by the previous owner does not carry any CGT information with it, although a paper trail of previous invoices may accompany it, to help prove provenance.

CGT in these cases CGT is almost impossible to police, and especially so in the case of long owned coins by a previous owner.

The Tax Office can hardly expect coin dealers and auction houses to assess CGT, when no records exist.

The coin looks genuine, the grade looks pretty accurate and the seller has lots of feedback.
The price is a bit high but it does have a "make an offer" option
