1897 Indian Head Cent / IHC Misplaced Date Variety?

While looking at the neck for the Misplaced Date 1 in Neck Variety, I noticed what looks like part of an 8 or the upper loop of the 9 protruding from the indians neck. Is this a known variety? Drsandman2 Pillar of the Community United States 1374 Posts	Posted 03/10/2013 11:13 pm To me, it looks lie a clash mark, but if the die is not rotated, then there is nothing in the field to clash with liberty's neck. Can't really tell with the picture, could be PMD or maybe lamination. Pretty confident that is not a digit. Report this Post to the Staff

What you are pointing out in your photo is quite obvious, and if it is a MPD I would think that it would have been discovered before.
