I get that it would be cheaper for me to fly there and get the coins, just not logistically possible!

J and M has one at $15000. already a 20% premium. I told them I would sleep on it, that already limits the upside in the near term

I was there when they sold-out instantly at the Vancouver boutique. And the coins were gorgeous.

I have seen two of these sets... eleven coins were MS-60 and one was MS-62.
Not worth the hefty premium, and the sales tax alone is almost worth an ounce of gold!! The only way that owner would ever get his money back would be to return the coins to the mint!!

Hard to believe that all those coins were "cherry" picked by some dealers and then the mint has the nerve to call these 6 Coin PHS sets the best of the best!

You have seen 2 of the 140 sets? Where did you see them and when? Of course they are worth it. J and M are already selling for $15 000 a 25% premium over the mint. I am not sure what you mean cherry picked by dealers, they had input from dealers but were selected by employees at the mint. At a mintage of only 140 I think these coins offer exceptional value at $12 000. That is why the mint is sold out and the sell as soon as they hit the shelves. They are not going to be flawless like coins straight from the mint now because they were bagged and moved a couple times plus they are a hundred years old. Oh well if I have some feelers out there and am trying to score a set at issue price!

You were probably looking at the hand selected sets, not the premium!

@tofu sorry bud! I have to be onside with SPP on this one. Having been at this game a long time and knowing how these coins were minted and stored, you are going to have a very very tough time even getting MS 62 out of ICCS on these gold pieces. All the ones I have seen so far have WAY too many obverse bag marks. I have owned ICCS 63 and 64 pieces in the past and they have bordered on the breathtaking as to marks and eye appeal. Why any one wants to pay the mints prices on these gold coins is beyond me. 12K could find a way better place in the Canadian coin market.

I wouldn't get them graded by ICCS I would get them graded by PCGS which is the gold standard of grading. They even made a special sleeve just for these coins! Probably a moot point because I don't think I will get an opportunity to get them at the issue price of 12G anyway. The ones you have seen have been the rejects, these are the 140 premium sets not the hand selected but Premium!

I believe SPP-Ottawa is referring to the Premium 6 coin set since they weren't presented in a "hand select" set. The only hand-selects were individual coins.
It seems to be the general consensus that these premium 6 coin sets aren't worth the extra dollars given that the quality may not be differentiated much from the individual premium select coins and in some cases only marginally better than the hand selects.

Who is verifying that, none of the premium sets have been graded as of yet. I will continue to try to get a premium set for the initial issue price. These coins are the highest grades there will be of these coins. There are no others. So why wouldn't I try to buy the best coins of a limited mintage coin in which demand is easily out stripping supply!

I can get you a set if you really want, but i'd suggest investing you're $12k into something that will give you a better return on you're investment

Ofc I want it. Why do you think I was posting on here that I wanted a set? They are sold out every where, when they do go on sale they sell out immediately. Where can I get it?
