Does the Mint place restrictions on dealers? (I mean re-sellers.) Perhaps they allow facsimiles of the coins to be published, by prior arrangement? As far as I can tell, those pictures on her website are only of replications, not actual photographs of the coins themselves. In any event, since she is buying from the Mint to sell, I can't see them prosecuting--those photos are probably reaching some people who might not otherwise see the products through the "official" channels and generating publicity and increasing demand.

This coin hasn't yet been announced my the Mint. This is obvious by the fact hat even MC don't even know about it. I think that what she is doing is breaking some sort of rule on advertizing a coin before it's released.

The only marketing rules are: Advertising must tell the truth and not mislead consumers. In addition, claims must be substantiated.

Last I look, free publicity wasn't illegal - on the contrary. And while we debate how she might have gotten some "secret" information, the RCM is laughing all the way to the bank.

This Kind of stuff is a big deal in automotive industry, but the difference is that car companies have lavish reveals. The mint only turns on some web pages, nothing lavish, so it's not like she is stealing their thunder. In my opinion once its leaked might as well go public and release all the coins early. I'm sure that the mint's marketing people are forced to maintain a release schedule so as not to overwhelm people with to many coins at one time. Either way, cats out of the bag and the post office is taking orders before master club sales even open. As a MC member that's what upsets me the most.

More reasons to revamp the MC concept.

The latest bid for the butterfly coin is $140.50 ending in two days on her ebay site. By the way, Canada Post is no longer taking orders for this coin. I just called them and they might allow orders over the phone in a few weeks. I hope anyone who is not a MC member ordered one since this coin will definitely be sold out before public release.

Yah I talked to a mint rep today. There were a lot of ticked off people regarding this coin. Needless to say this may be the last post office loop hole purchase for anyone. The Mint wants to make sure they are the first one to sell the coin. I have a feeling we will still see coins getting leaked before their release, but I don't think the post office will preorders any more.

In addition to the "Buy it Now" at $325.00, she also has one at auction, currently at $140.50. I noticed all of the bids on this say "private listing - bidders' identities protected". Can anyone explain this? Does it raise red flags for you?

No the private listing has doesn't raise a flag a lot of sellers do that, then when you look at completed listings there are no prices or item descriptions.

BTW I hope the mint has some when they announce them since I'm a MC member and wouldn't be happy if they are not for sale for me.

The tag says "the seller has relisted this item" however, when you click on it, you get "the listing has been removed" I wonder if somebody from the mint came down on them despite "Disclaimer: Copyright of all pictures belongs to Royal Canadian Mint"

I guess I'll put some up to, if people don't seem to care. I don't like the idea of people selling coins that aren't even announced, but I gotta do what I gotta do. 😈

You might as well get in there. There are a few other people selling this so I'm not sure why people are just picking on this one person. $250 is a nice price for the 3rd coin IMO.
