I am sure the mint won't change the name. I just thought that a coin struck 3 times and part of the coin is proof, should it really be called uncirculated? I know the coin will be uncirculated, but it will also be partly proof in my mind.

Thus the term used in grading "Proof Like"
I bet there will be a few MS PL or MS DMPL's in this grading group

I thought the term "Proof Like" was used on coins that were struck once, like a business strike, but came out PL or DMPL, not used for a coin that will be struck 3 times. I guess you could call a coin struck 3 times as proof like, but I would think that was an actual proof. All I can say for now is that this coin is interesting and I would like to see some other pictures of the coin.

It has always been my impression that Proofs were Struck On Specially prepared Blanks and with Special Dies. Since this Eagle is going to be struck on a Burnished Blank It can't be considered Proof even if they Struck it 40 times. The Blank is not a polished Proof Blank.

Correct...and that is why PL or DMPL would be appropriate. Since they are both designations assigned by a grading company I don't think the number of times struck matters. It is determined by the appearance and quality of the coin.

I didn't think about them not being on polished planchets, that clears that up in my mind. Thanks. Still an interesting coin that requires further review.

You guys brought out an interesting point. We'll see how the TPG will come out with special designation for this coin.... the list continue to get long and complicated.

Ok, after seeing better pictures, I must admit I like it. The contrast is beautiful in proper lighting.

I liked what I saw in the new pictures. This will more than likely be a big seller, I'm guessing at least 300K.

It's sure will attract lots of attention. The question is how well USMint will manage it or will it turn into another fiasco..... The coins set is first of its kind so we'll have to wait and see how it will turn out.

The TPGers may use "SP" again.
