1975 Gold Coin No Mint Mark - Coin Community Forum

I came across a sealed gold dime one is a 1979 with a mint mark and one is a 1975 gold dime with no mint mark. Is this the real deal and how do I find out if it is?!?! Report this Post to the Staff

The 1979 is minted D and not seeming to be valuable at all the 1975 seems to have some interesting facts behind it. Report this Post to the Staff

The 1975 No S dime is a completely different animal from what you have. The No S dime is a very rare proof coin(specially prepared collector coins sold in sets) that was accidentally minted without a mintmark, only two are known. It has the same composition as a normal dime, cupronickel cladding with a copper core, but proofs have mirror polished fields with frosted devices and look quite different from a coin meant for circulation. Circulating coins without a mintmark were minted at Philadelphia. Report this Post to the Staff
