Haven't even opened my rolls yet and I already struck silver! Not exactly CRH but it's close enough that I'm counting it. I was at the bank waiting for a couple of older people to dump their coins and I got talking to them. They pulled a 1953 and a 1959 dime and 59, 65 and 67 quarters. I explained they were mainly silver but they didn't want to keep them so I dumped 233 nickels into the coinstar for them and received the silver coins in exchange. I tried to be as fair as possible given that everyone was in a rush and I didn't have a calculator or the current melt values handy.

They had some american half dollars too which I didn't know the value of and told them to hang on to.

Went through a box of nickels today. Still no 1991's. Found 184 1981 and earlier including a 1967 rabbit, 11 1963/64, 58,60,62, 2 1949's, 1945 V nickel and a really nice 1966.

Also kept 3 american nickels - 39,56 and 59 and found an interesting looking 2012 Canadian nickel. It has 2 parallel lines of indents running across the front and back. The indents look like denticles but pushed into the coin instead of raised. Not sure what caused it but the coin is in otherwise good condition so it makes me think it is not PMD but I'm not sure.

I got $100 in quarters today. No silver, but I did fill a few more holes in my folder, and I found a lovely 1992 10 pence. Those British coins seem to circulate much more than ours, it's interesting to see familiar portraits really worn. I found a 2004 that was so worn that the copper layer was showing, but I didn't keep it. I also tracked down 6 American quarters, two of which filled holes in my State Quarters from Canadian circulation album.

Went through 2 of the 4 penny boxes I picked up today. Found 10+lbs of copper and swapped out a fair amount of dates in my penny books. Picked up an old Whitman small cent album for my daughter as part of a trade with a very nice dealer recently and I'm just missing 1954 now (aside from almost all the George V's). Found 1919 and 1925 wheat pennies and a Canadian type 2 blank small cent planchet. I was amazed at how high a lot of the Wheat penny mintages were going back that far but I guess that makes sense given the U.S population.

nice O-train, I've been regretting giving my blank planchet away to another CCF member some time ago. Thought I would find another one. Not the case. Sucks, because now I don't have one for my penny collection.

My nickel roll hunting yields have dropped significantly this week. I wonder if I am now getting "boomerang" rolls. Maybe it is time to let the stocks "replenish". I decided to put my nickel hunting money for this week into junk silver because the price is right.
