Attic guy first in Canada the half is not made for circulation so bank won't likely have rolls. They may have some loose if you are lucky. Same with dollars pre 1986. ( loonie) for rolls of dollars post 1986, loonies, yes banks will have these along with the $2 coins cost is $25 and $50 per roll. As for not being a client of the bank it should not be an issue if you go to the big banks like RBC or TD but smaller credit unions or even smaller branches may not sell them to you.
Best bet is to be as charming as possible and be up front with who you are. If you are not looking to get tons it should not be an issue.

ace_ftw, thanks for the quick info. So far I've only found two halves (1969 & 1971), 12 loonies, and 3 twonies in circulation here in Detroit. It looks like my fifty-cent and first (1968-1984) dollar coin folders will be pretty empty for a long time. :( Quote: Best bet is to be as charming as possible ... My wife read what you wrote and said that I have no chance. ?

Finished searching the 10 rolls of dimes, nickels and quarters quickly, but spent lots of time to finish the few that I set aside. I still have to look at almost all of the dimes from the mint roll. Here is the summary: Nickels (6 CWR, 4 MWR) 12 pure nickel, 1958-1981 (Including a 1980 upgrade) 38 cupronickel post-1982 American 1996P (upgrade), 2008D Bermudan 5 cents 1986 2008 5 Euro cents (Greece) Dimes (1 CWR, 8 MWR, 1 mint roll) 10 nickel 1982-2000 2001P upgrade 29 2015 mint roll of 2014 (tricked... I assumed it would be 2015 ) Quarters (10 CWR) 22 nickel 1969-1994 (including a 1988 upgrade and a 1992 PEI hole filler) 5 nickel commemoratives

Love that rabbit! Always wanted to find one of these "in the wild," but never did. But, then again, I never did much roll searching for them either.

Thanks guys! I don't find as many centennials as other older Elizabeth II nickels, but they are still relatively common. In circulation alone, I haven't found any in recent months. After seeing a 2015 loonie pop up in circulation, I decided on getting 10 rolls of them plus 10 rolls of toonies. Nothing valuable but a couple interesting finds. Loonies: 1995 and 1996 upgrades 1 2015 A 1987 so worn that it was smooth and revealed the inner layers Toonies: 2000 and 2002 upgrades no 2015s yet A 2000 with a slightly off-centre core. Does this carry a premium?

just hours after ordering my 10 pack of new Flag quarters from the Mint, got a coloured one in a CWR today.. by the way, Shoeplier, your 5 Eurocent coin is from Cyprus, not Greece - a lot more scarce..

interesting day at the bank - stopped in to exchange searched rolls for new ones and the bank mgr. has held a few things for me: 1982 and 1984 dollars (good for trading), a US $1 coin (good for my driving holiday to US in the fall), and a CDN 1992 50 cent piece that I believe to be proof.. Then I get home with the new rolls (7 dimes, 15 quarters) - first dime roll spills out 3 pennies.. d'oh! I hate returning short rolls to the bank (hate making up the difference with my own money too!), so I tell my wife if I find a silver dime, I'll make up for the pennies myself.. Lo and behold after the 7 rolls, there is a '58 and a '64 dime in the found pile! 8 US dimes too. I should have made these declarations long ago! As for the quarters, no silver, got 3 US quarters, and an XF-MS 1970 for an album upgrade..

Its funny how the pennies accidentally get into the dime rolls. I realize they are the same colour and size I got a quarter in a roll of loonies once, and then in three more rolls from the same bundle I often get nickels or dimes in my quarter rolls too, but I don't return them short either. Only very occasionally do I get a dime in a nickel or penny roll, but not as much as the other way around. It's a mystery I guess.

Quote: I tell my wife if I find a silver dime, I'll make up for the pennies myself.. Nice silver finds! It doesn't even matter because you've still made money on the silver. I don't seem to get rolls that are short by accident (or "accident"), but it would be very bothersome. Shonit123... lucky finds! And for face, too! Some of you should be lucky that tellers save interesting finds for collectors.

yes, I've bought some Timmies for the tellers, if the banks will let me, to show my appreciation. Just today I went to another bank to exchange searched rolls for new ones (14 quarters, still 7 dimes) - the teller goes to the vault and comes out with arms full of CWRolls. As much as I hate the plastic containers, I love that I can see the copper ring around the US quarters and dimes, makes it easy to pick and choose them. And the great thing was when the teller holds up a quarter roll with 12 US coins in it and says "ooh, you'll like this one!"
