finally had one of the dream rolls, not complete mind you, but spilled 18 silver quarters out of a roll of 40 coins. Wasn't sure I was seeing correctly looking at all the early QEII faces.. But it was a recent coin roll as there was a 2014 quarter in it. Makes you wonder who didn't realize what they had! 1943,49,55,58,60,61,62x2,64x4,65,66,67x2,68x2 (it's like a conga line!)

Quote: My recent find 1968 sliver dime, nice find for buying on my brithday. Nice find! Quote: finally had one of the dream rolls, not complete mind you, but spilled 18 silver quarters out of a roll of 40 coins. Excellent. Could have been someone cashing in an inheritance, not knowing they were special. Maybe even a very old coin jar.

Picked up 44 rolls of pennies at the bank today. Older Canadian finds included: 1940(3), 1941, 1945, 1947ML, 1951(3), 1955, 1957(2), and 1959(3). Also found 2 wheat cents, a 1971 UK New Penny, a 2 Euro Cent, and a dime. Favourite find is a beautifully toned 1951 which I couldn't properly capture in pictures.

Quote: went up through North Van, hit up about 20 banks (never been up there before for roll hunting) ended up getting over 4 boxes of pennies. Congratulations on the finds! That's great that banks would let you take out pennies and 50 cent coins on your first visit. I wouldn't be able to do that yet. I forgot to post earlier but I got 10 rolls of dimes and quarters on August 15th. It was the perfect day for searching; I searched on the main floor while our carpets were cleaned upstairs. Dimes: 40 American (two rolls in particular contained lots of American, and Canadian pre-2001) 83 1968-2000 Quarters: 13 American 15 1971-1995 9 assorted nickel commemoratives Still haven't checked for upgrades, but there were some nice commemoratives and '70s quarters especially.

If all goes well I will be taking a return trip to Canada next summer to go fishing... I have saved up 15 dollars worth or so of canadian change in 2 years, so I will be using that to buy bait :-) return those coins back to their home.

I've saved up American change as well just for fun, or just in case. At work, I find it interesting when, once in a blue moon, people spend U.S. bills (but I'm told to accept them at par).

my driving trip to the US just had to be postponed.. I had about $300 in US change that was coming with me.. now if I hear people are going there by plane, I convince them to trade a US $20 bill for a couple rolls of quarters - never know when you are going to hit the vending machine, right? I'm going to get those bills one way or the other!

Well I finally crossed over (actually 'under') the river today and got three rolls each of loonies and twonies. From them, I got five new loonies and 16 new twonies for my folders. I went to two different banks and each was very helpful to me. I just explained that I was a coin collector from Michigan and was hoping to find some at face value instead of paying through my nose from ebay. I also went to two Currency Exchange shops. The first told me that they do NOT take coinage. Thankfully the second told me that they would but only if they were full rolls. I was hoping to inspect through all six rolls and go back to the second currency exchange to switch what I didn't need back to USA denominations, but I didn't have the time and/or chance to do that today, so I just brought everything home. (I had planned to do my searching in a Windsor library but I couldn't find one) I figure that I saved myself around $20 by finding what I did through roll hunting instead of buying them online; and the $20 includes the $10 I spent to cross the border both ways and $6-$9 for gas. Of course, unless I can get the Canadian coins turned back into US coins, I'll be stuck with over $150 in useless, non-spendable coins.

consider this for an option, just know that you'll have a little stash of Canadian till your next trip, or you exchange it to US and lose a little percentage.. Keep your ears open for anyone you know heading up to Canada. Get them to buy some of your change (if they give you US exchange, perfect for you, but if they insist on giving Canadian bills for Canadian coins, just collect the bills and then exchange them back to US at your own bank, or hold them till your next border crossing. I am doing the same thing with all the US change I find in CRHing, I've gotten people to take over $80 in US quarters and dimes, and they've given me US bills that I will save till my next trip there..
