Compared to the previous coin, this one is disappointing. What might have been a nicer design would have been to have bare branches, with an occasionally coloured leaf straggling to hold on to a branch as it flutters in the wind. Seeing reds and orange leaves interspersed with branches signifies autumn to me, not just two large leaves at the base of a tree. Maybe it'll look better in hand? That's my only hope.
I wonder what winter will look like? Two icicles near the base?

I do have to agree it is not the best so far but it is nice. I like the reds and yellows. The detail of the leaf looks nice. I think it will look a lot more nicer in hand.

The series have 4 coins total. We still have two more chance to be aggravated by RCM..... which will be next (Winter or Summer)?

It doesn't matter what the next two coins look like. The fact that the first two are so remarkably different in both design and appeal just kills the series. The 4 coins together will look so out of place they shouldn't be put next to each other. The only way I see the RCM salvaging this is to come up with 2 more completely different designs, each again successively more ugly than the previous. Then, and only then, would we have a series again, not of maple canopy, but of the degradation of RCM design.

Man! What a huge disappointment... I was so looking forward to seeing these coins as a set. More than any other set in recent years. Way to drop the ball RCM... you had a very clear winner in the first coin and totally went in the opposite direction on the second. How does that even happen? Even if the design had stayed the same and the colour of the leaves were changed... even that would have been much a better choice. Do I seem bitter? lol

I know everyone is disappointed with this second coin but after looking at the picture on RFD post #30895, it grow on me a bit. We all have very high expectation of this coin and it is right to be disappointed. After seeing that pic, I am a bit less disappointed than before. If that count for anything

Just to remove the empty fields, the way that tree will take all the coin space - and will be very nice. But correct, coin looks much better "alive". Why RCM didn't give to Emily to do the design? New artist looks like was inspired by 20for20 Penny farewell theme.

Exactly! I like each of the coins separately but they do not look like they belong to the same series. Here they are side by side: I do wish that the empty border around the 2nd coin wasn't there. It makes the coin look bigger somehow though. Or maybe it is just the lack of colour?

From the Mint's FB page: We just had to share this picture of a custom-built clock, created by a collector to proudly display the coins in the Mint's stunning Maple Canopy series.
