Anyone on FB, check out the mint's recent postings. They are trying to justify the lack of MC notification and the quick sell out.... " Royal Canadian Mint / Monnaie Royale Canadienne All Masters Club members were advised of the new coins released this week at the same time, via email. Even with a strict limit for each customer, some coins, like the Venetian glass butterfly, sold out within a very short period of time due to overwhelming popularity and demand." " Royal Canadian Mint / Monnaie Royale Canadienne The Venetian glass butterfly coin released last week sold out much faster than we anticipated. It is certainly not our policy to make coins available on the secondary market in advance of their official launch, and we sincerely apologize to any of our customers who were not able to acquire this coin from the Royal Canadian Mint." I see errors in both statements.

To be honest, they had to say those statements even if there were errors in them. Just expect changes next release on how Canada Post is handled and how some of the phone lines were handled. The mint phone line really shouldn't let you order items that aren't even released.

They had to put out false statements? Really? They should have said nothing. Digging is rarely a valid option when trying to get out of a hole. Agreed on CP (the real problem). I also hope they stop taking phone orders from non MC during MC pre-release week.

as we seen with this recent release, the RCM own inactions has turned most of their dealer network except for CP into flippers, look what talisman, gatewest, ect. I hope they will enforce some logical dealer rules.

The problem is not the dealer, it's the hoard of non-dealers who only buy coins to make a profit...

Quote: The problem is not the dealer, it's the hoard of non-dealers who only buy coins to make a profit... Specifically with the glass butterfly, the RCM put MC limits of 2 (3 for some) but CP took orders a week or two in advance with a limit of 3 or 5. And they allowed people to call back and place orders over and over again. If the RCM and CP actually enforced limits then maybe it would be a little more difficult for one individual to amass 30, 40, or more of a relatively low mintage coin. Odd that a system challenged company like Gatwest can determine when people try to exceed their ordering limits but CP and the RCM can't. Sure, some very determined people will find ways around limits but as of now, RCM/CP are not even trying to enforce them. One might also question why RCM is selling low mintage coins that are virtually guaranteed sell outs via the CP. They are effectively diverting sure profits from one profitable crown corp to a second, dying crown corp. Why?

The RCM should product with no limit to keep the flippers away... So then, we will be able to know the exact quantity when the Annual Financial results is launch. After couple of month came back to normal mintage... The hoard of flippers will then go away... For the long term, the RCM have better interest to keep the real collector then the flippers who create a fake market demand and will go away once there will be not enough money to do...

Canada post is the mint's biggest client how can they not give them any? Yes they should not of been sold early. Limit's mean nothing if you want them it is too easy get them if you have any friends willing to order for you can get as many as you want.

so gatewest, who is the second largest RCM dealer, their action by having a issue price which no one can purchase and raising prices every ten minutes is a good practise. The RCM has rules regarding pricing they decided not to enforce their own regulations. I had a return call from the head of dealer issues regarding the penny sets, his response was amazing, the dealer rules for pricing was too hard to control, so they dont enforce them. Hopefully some good changes will be in the future.

@CC-Ottawa - Ya. Them saying due to over whelming demand. It was more like a leaked by Canada Post but they cannot say that. Also E-mail at the same time. Some people got the E-mail a couple hours before I did.
@ro-chan - They were released that day. As soon as it turned 12 it was released you could order just the phone lines were not open. The internet relase does not justify the official release. The official release was the day it was released to MC.
