I saw the show last night and it was really awesome and epic, but also very sad because it was the end. There will be no more shows and of course that was the end of Spartacus. A lot of people know the result based on what history records but to see what actually happens gave it new meaning for me in a way. No one really knows what happened for sure, of course. They say Spartacus body was never found.
I don't want to spoil it for anyone that hasn't seen it yet, but I recommend watching it for any people that love ancient history and ancient coins!

An amazing, unforgettable ending to a masterpiece of a show! Here's my only Roman Republic coin, minted 87-86 BC and would have been in circulation during Spartacus's rebellion: I hope the rumors of a spinoff end up being true.

I only wish I had a coin to show from that era. One day I will, you can bet on it. Gotta honor Spartacus, the Bringer of Rain!

What are the rumors? I don't believe I've heard anything about it.

A spinoff for Caesar. But they haven't confirmed anything yet and it's just speculation so far.

That might be good but my first impressions for the actor that played Caesar was a bit off.

I personally thought he did great as Caesar. Now when I think of Caesar I'll be thinking of the Spartacus version of him lol

The few shows I saw were great. Unfortunately I don't subscribe to Showtime so only caught the free showings on Dish. Think I'll buy the DVDs of this series.
Since getting into Roman coins, I have also been bitten by the Roman movie bug. Always enjoyed Gladiator and have added Barabbas (Anthony Quinn), Spartacus (Kirk Douglas), Centurion (Michael Fassbender), and The Fall of The Roman Empire (Christopher Plummer) to my collection. Really that last one as it was about Marcus Aurelius' death and Commodus taking over. Showed what a wacko that guy was.

If you enjoy watching something 'completely different' try director Ken Russell's movie version of the Oscar Wilde play "Salome's Last Dance". Also from the same director "The Lair of the White Worm" a British low budget horror flick that works in the Emperor "Marcus Aurelius Carausius" as being a reason for the evil that stalks a peaceful village. Be forewarned though ...... Ken Russell movies are shall we say ..... different .... and made on a 'tight' budget

I've seen the first two season and the mini-prequal season....we wait until it is out of dvd or bluray..then kick back and enjoy. not a show for the timid....gratuitous sex and violence.......just my cup of tea.

Oh yeah, that series is very graphic. lol
I know some people that don't like it because of all the sex, violence and swearing. I was like, despite not being completely accurate according to recorded history even with two versions, it's a historical portrayal.

That was the beauty of that series, very true to life as to the what has been written about life in Roman times.
