I have so many different combinations of errors/varieties on this years cent... I thought I'd post them and share these with you.

This one has filling on leaves....doubling of D.G. REGINA... Missing beads on obverse.

Noticed they're might be what appears to be lettering where the beads are suppose to be...not sure...and an odd spot to the left lower edge.

Some here might call the first pic (with all of the arrows) to be "mortar set".

.....and the 2nd and 3rd pics show how the rim fades two 2 rings as if the collar was moving as it was struck.

Very nice find...

Thanks for the comments JeyRey2000 kookoox10 DEVLEC.

This one here looks as though it's "doubled die" lettering...(almost feel like ducking after a comment like that)...(humor)

We should now "have a toast" to the mint employee who was sleeping when he should have been removing that die from service.

Your following pieces definitely show great "mortar set" and then some doubling in the date too. Fun eh..!!

Here's the one that I have ...and remember that doubled dates are a listed variety in the 79 cent.

HI

This defect is "die shift", not "doubled die".

Thanks for passing on the info castor. Appreciate it..."Cheers" DEVLEC... I second that motion..although I feel bad for picking out the faults of these 79's for that reason...(mint employee not changing the dies) he's/she's made a lot of people happy..and I second the motion of Copperdog...DEVLEC's coin is a beauty!..

Thanks again

Odd "die clash".."hanging bud"

"N" and "T" connected...denticles fading into a thickening rim.

Double date...left leaf..bottom right leaf.."N T" connected...and not sure... but looks to be a cracked last "A" in "Canada"

1979 must have been rife with errors! I just went through 9 rolls of them and got a handful of double dates and a few hanging buds. And I only looked at the coins that were near mint in colour. There are probably a number of "browns" with the same defects. Those are some beauties you stumbled across. Maybe I'll go back and give them another once over but first I have 8 rolls of 1978 I'm anxious to check out!

Nice to have so many examples on a few coins.

I came across a few in similar shape, here's one. Experimented zooming in with bright sunshine, reflection across the coin is the 'low' area. Penny lays flat.

Nice find ArchW.

The 1978 seem to be plentiful too bobberbear...goodluck on the hunt.

This one seems to have a bit of a shift on the second "9" happening like the 1999s that I have seen.

I looked for the first time and found 2 from 1979. One is a hanging 9 with some doubling on the date (mainly the 9). The other one also has doubling on the 9 and the denticles on the reverse go over onto the rim of the coin.
