1982 Mexico 50 Pesos Strike W/ Blank Rim (No Reeding)

Hi guys,
I posted this coin that I found a few days ago, and enjoyed reading all of your comments.
To my surprise, this coin has a blank rim which seems unprocessed because when I measured it with a caliper, it came up as the same diameter as an original non-error 1982 50 Pesos that I have.
could this mean that this is extremely rare? so cool how coins could be defected this much lol,

The coin appears to be a broadstrike. This happens when a planchet enters the coining chamber slightly off center and the collar die can not rise. The result is much the same as a coin struck in an old screw press.

The fact that you can not measure an appreciably expansion in the coin's diameter is because in a collared strike the planchet is undersized and swells to fill the chamber. In this case there may be a very near balance between broadstrike diameter and collared diameter. It just happens and is a function of striking pressure.
