Ih-Penny-Auction-Going-For-$125+,-Wheres-The-Golden-Egg?
Hey guys, a couple days ago I listed a set of these 18 coins on ebay and anticipated that they would hit probably 2 bucks a coin due to their condition and even the presence of corrosion.
But I was so surprised when the auction hit over $125 with 7 watchers.
When I tried to make this set, I only noted the 1886 and 1894, both of which are considerably semikey dates, but they couldn't contribute to the current $125 bid.

Please let me know what coin is making this lot so high value lol,
thhhankk you!

Nothing that I can see in the condition they are... Maybe a new collector getting a bunch of IHCs at one fell swoop?

I'm essentially about it. You should have access to the identities of the bidders; have a look at their feedback and your bidding history (did one or maybe two people drop a decimal point?) for hints.

Maybe they think the 1888 is the 1888/87 snow 1. Hard to tell if its just damage or if the rim Cud is actually there.

Thank you all for the great responses.
I think I might of figured it out, the 1888 coin seems to have a crooked "E" in America, doesn't seem like it worn off that way. could this be it?
@FadeToBlack please please please tell meeee! lol

People seem to go crazy on there over the Indians. I have been filling an indian book with my grandson. And I just won't pay some of the prices that they go for on there. Now my grandson on the other hand just keeps telling me to keep hitting the button. LOL. Glad you got such a good price.

I'd re-check the 88. but the only thing I can see is the 1886 is a type 2 (or type 1887 as Richard Snow would say) which is more valuable than type 1 but not a big $$$ coin by any stretch.

For some reason, they almost always sell on ebay for more than Numismedia or RedBook list price.

@PawPaw34... Do you have any common dates lacking in your granson's set? I have hundreds of IHC's and would be more than happy to donate a few to the cause. Paleoguy
