Hard to tell with the glare.Did you check CC site?
It looks like it took a hit not an RPM to me.

Thanks, John1 - I did check CC and it is not listed. Does that site list all possibilities?

The main thing I see is what appears to be an outline of the D at the bottom, including a separation line and going along the upright on the West Outside to the top serif. The top D appears to me to be slightly rotated clockwise. I do see the damage on the date and I think it is possible that the outside axis of that damage could have touched the top serif, which has too much reflection to tell for sure. I appreciate your help.

Someday I hope to be able to ask fewer stupid questions...however, for now I need the feedback until I become more comfortable recognizing various features.

No such thing as a Stupid question.
CC's site will list all the known types
but there is always the possibility of finding
a new one out there. Your coin just seems to be damaged
by a hit or two however, not an RPM.
