Thanks for the question, coop - it may just be shadow - here is an image with a bit better lighting on the 4:00 position. In fact, with this lighting, it might be possible to pick out split serifs (?). (Quite minor)

Well that makes it clearer. What was in the center of the mint mark is now missing. Just a normal mint mark. The first image made it look like there was an east cent post. Just the way a 1982-D mint mark should look. Had me going for a second..

Thanks for the second image. You have done away with glare on this image. So you did gain something on improving your images. Keep it up.
