ebay has a feature "what others are watching". If you place an item on your watch list, it could cause the item to show up for other bidders.

I also noticed several yrs ago when you could have featured adds(kept at the top of the page for a little more$$)these did not all come up if you used your my ebay saved searches feature to search.I've had my searches added to favorites on my computer instead since then.you can do the same with items instead of adding them to your watchlist
