No idea! But appeared to have good strike.
Can you weight it? Does it stick to magnet? What does Tokyo 3,000 H4/3 means written in front of the holder? (Is that the price for the coin @3,000 yen?)Or the symbol in between?

"H4/3" - probably means Heisei era year 4 month 3 ---> march 1992

It's a photo from the auction so I can only ask to measure it. Anyway it is against the law to sell fake coins here though no one I know of ever tried to enforce law regarding fake sellers on yahoo auction here. The seller of current coin is a pawn shop, having some modern chinese silver coins listed as well. Quote: "H4/3" - probably means Heisei era year 4 month 3 ---> march 1992
then it doesn't mean anything ... but maybe it's the time the coin was bought at that price?! Quote: I'd like to visit Japan, but have no clue where I should go first?
I should ask is there a district or places collectors shop for coins? every shop I know prices the coins too high, even higher than ebay. You might visit Otakaraya stores - these are kind of pawn shop network that are buying and selling any collectibles, PM, coins, etc. They are present throughout Japan.

How much are they asking ?
These coins aren't rare and there are fakes.
Personally, I wouldn't consider it unless I could see the raw coin and weigh and test it, unless it's incredibly cheap.

In EF, genuine dollars KM quotes $55 - see http://www.ngccoin.com/poplookup/Wo...oinid=306456however, I often see them at near silver value. As you don't know whether it's fake or not, if it were me, I would leave it to some other sucker and buy something that you can see or at least not extensively faked.

That coin will sell for a fair bit. Krause prices are severely outdated. Would be surprised if it goes under 100 dollars.
