I know the coin is in horrible shape, but this would be my first cent clip, so that is why I am curios. I don't see any blanksy effect, but there is a nick on the side with the clip like it had been circulating with the planchet clipped so I think it is the real deal. Sad that it is in such horrible shape. Is there any way to help it?

Obverse

Reverse

Edge with the clip

Thanks for looking and any input.

I'll go out on a limb and say it's real.Notice the full rim all the way around the obverse until you get below the bust of Lincoln,It appears to flatten out I would call that the Blakesly effect. On the reverse above the wheat stalk looks like it took a hit.Looks like it got hit by that ole ugly stick but it looks real. Incomplete planchet aka clip

Awesome, thanks. I thought it was real. First penny clip and biggest clip I found to date. Sad about the shape, but then again it is kinda cool thinking how much it circulated like that before a collector found it that was willing to keep it.
