Wow this is terrible. The bubbles are too sparse to really make out the maple clearly. Plus the circular text? Like kindergarten design.

I just noticed the French is upside down! Of course if you invert the whole logo, it's right-side up, but the maple leaf and the English are then upside down. I hope this won't incite a national crisis...

Quote: Nope, Click over the the french version of the website and you will see the french on top. You're right! Whew! Deep sigh of relief.... Another national crisis averted... But when you think about it, there should be no need to have an English logo and a French logo. Surely it is possible to design one logo that shows both of Canada's official languages. Just askin'?

Per RCM Facebook Page: H ave you noticed our new look?
The Mint brand has evolved over the course of its 105-year history and today, is synonymous with trust, pride and innovation. In our new logo, trust and pride are reflected in the iconic Canadian maple leaf, which has been preserved in a rich gold tone. The modernization of the maple leaf â€" made up of coins of various sizes, and circular shape of our name, is inspired by our core business. Together, these two elements represent innovation, a key component of the Mint's story of success.
The Mint's commitment to modernization in the competitive international market is one of the key ways that we are able to maintain our leadership position on a global scale.

Did the budget include training in fingerpainting 101?

So if the new logo is supposed to be trust (coins) and pride (leaf)- neither of which is obvious- why, why? So if coins- then shouldn't they reflect our most common ones with the corresponding colours instead of all gold? If a leaf- then shouldn't it include the stem (like our flag) and not be so sparse (as Hobbes indicated)? I definitely liked the old one better- simpler and understood.

The new logo resembles more of a Canadian postage stamp, with a cancellation stamp on it. If it were the Canada Post new logo, then it fits well. Howevever, for the Mint, it is cheesy and looks so un-classy.
Wait till you see these new logos adorn the Mint boxes and sets, and boy..... It gives it a childish look.
