Same deal, get a written guarantee that the coin hasn't been cleaned first.

Don't know if AFS coins is good, bad or indifferent. But I do know they do have some very nice Fiji pre-decimal coins advertised.
Haven't heard anything negative about them.

Thanks everyone for your help and there is only one question remaining from me which dealers do you view as reputable that I should give a call who can help me find a 1915 shilling in EF? (at 17 I dont really have a wealth of contacts within the coin collecting community unfortunately)

I know you have the money now and ypu really want the coin but if youre patient ypu will do yourself a lot of good possibly. I have purchased coins before because I needed it and I had the money. I found them after only a very short time searching and just grabbed them. I now realise I jumped too quickly and should have waited for a cheaper coin in a better grade that comes along down the track. I know youve been searching for a little while and this isn't an impulse buy but just saying some of the most satisfying purchases can come from waiting patiently. Its hard to wait though. Keep searching and I'm sure something will turn up eventually. Just because we say to be careful with someone doesn't mean that you should completely write them off. Make your own decision keeping in mind what others have said.

If you ask a dealer to source you one you can expect to pay full retail (around $1500). You can save a lot of money buying at auction but you'll need to wait for one to turn up, original EFs sell for around $800, there was a cleaned gEF 1915 shilling with a sharp strike, full emu feathers, clear 8 pearls, etc in the last Nobles sale - it was passed in at around $600.

Same enworb got it today in the mail and was so excited to see if one would come up but alas none but then I started looking through the older catalogues and they are quite rare in any denomination especially the florin which I bought at the last downies auction it was the only one higher than vg for nearly 2 years in downies auctions which surprised me.

Its probably because in low to mid grades theyre not very valuable and hence Downies cant really be bothered.

I don't regard any of them as reputable.

Edit: This coin was graded EF but its more likely VF. Not only that its prolly cleaned as well.

Certainly cleaned, it could be EF (these '15s aren't always well struck up), it's probably not though.
