I just received this dime in the mail and was wondering what would have caused the edge on the reverse to look like this? If the images are not clear enough, let me know and I will try to get clearer pics.

Well I would say you have some toning starting in my opinion. Such a nice blue; feel good about having such a desirable color. Actually toned coins are pretty cool.

Just the starting of toning possibly due to laying around somewhere. You said you just received it in the mail. Not sure but hopefully you didn't pay much. Not an especially difficult coin to find in much better condition. Yet still a decent grade. If the blue continues to grow, just keep it in a humid free area.
