I held a piece of Aluminium foil next to the side of the camera, so it reflected in the coin this way the coin maintained its silver appearance. Is this cheating? This was taken on macro setting, fully automatic, no zoom or magnifying lenses and hand held. Steve Report this Post to the Staff

triggersmob Pillar of the Community Australia 9472 Posts	Posted 06/07/2007 05:44 am Gary Too, this picture is taken with a transluscent fruit juice bottle (with the bottom cut out), placed over the coin to shield the light. stratocaster Valued Member United Kingdom 240 Posts	Posted 06/07/2007 05:52 am I am not sure if you used this, but central spot metering might improve the quality of the details.Usually on full auto the camera chooses a matrix metering which is influenced by the dark background and wich determines the blown highlights in the coin. Using center spot metering will usually expose better the coin itself, rather than the whole picture. You can also try this trick: set AV mode instead of auto and select the smallest number available (2.8 or 3.2or whatever it is). Report this Post to the Staff
