Hmmm...I'm pretty convinced its a DD although the first picture I thought was MD. Looking at the split seriffs it looks good.

Yeah, that split on the S grabs my attention too. Hope a pro gives you a yes. There are 2 DDR's listed on CONECA, but no pics to compare it to.

It's RDV-004, the two DDR listed on CONECA are RDV-005 and RDV-003. It's definitely not listed on CONECA or anywhere else I have looked. I wish I had taken whole coin photos before I sent it off. When I emailed Wexler he seemed pretty excited about it, saying it appeared to be a new discovery. I'll have to keep everyone updated, as soon as it comes back to me it's going off to James Wiles to list on CONECA.

It looks like there's even doubling in "E PLURIBUS". Very nice coin.

Note to new comers:
This is why you should check everything not just hunt for known varieties.

Just heard back from Wiles. It was in fact listed on Coneca as DDR-002, 2-R-I-CCW, stage A, EDS.* I'm still pretty excited as it is a new die state. Wexler is going to feature it in his Sept 16th column in Coin World. It is already listed on doubleddie.com and will soon be on varietyvista.com. Not bad for thumbing through some change after work.

It is always a nice feeling to discover a new variety. Now you know what that means. Congratulations again.
