Something just does not ring true here should I file a non paying bid claim or just walk away. I am not happy as its several hundred dollars we are talking about

Placed bids on 14 items
during the auction retracted 3 bids no big deal
Won 3 items then the chain of messages start.

"Hello there, I'm writing to inform you that payment will be made on Monday,After my father returns from New Orleans. If you need any questions answered,Please feel free to contact me,"

"Hello there,Im terribly sorry but on my way to the doctors this morning I was in a serious car accident. It may delay my payment until Saturday.I really want these for my collection but will understand if you need to retract my bids,I am a man of my word and will make sure that you do get paid by Sunday possibly sooner.I have to use the money I had set aside for the coins to get a new car but will be ok by Saturday,Thanks"

"We're sorry but the owner of this site is in the hospital due to a sudden Heart attack and Will not be on his site any longer.I'm his son and Will be heare so you can cancel his bids.we are very sorry. This came so sudden .He is only. 48.please send me your cancelatios and I will close your cases. Please pray for my Dad.Very sorry"

Wow. Sounds like a total flake. I'd probably file the non-paying bidder claim if that would get them banned from ebay....& at the very least would add them to my blocked bidders list.

Filing a claim will probably result in no disciplinary action being taken. You may as well lodge the claim so you can get your fees beack. I had someone buy some things about three weeks ago. Never made contact, didn't reply to my messages and then didn't reply to the ebay claim. Theres nothing much you can do other than block them.

Oh jeez - who knows what to believe. I'd just file the non pay and move on.

I had a similar weird situation recently. I sold a simple point and shoot camera on ebay (under $100). I was in contact with the buyer saying thanks for purchase, will be shipped tomorrow, etc.

They went out of their way to say how thrilled they were to get the camera since they had had a house fire, lost everything, etc. Oh, and be sure to leave positive feedback and we will do the same.

So I thought - well, glad the old camera will get some use. So two weeks pass and no feedback (I left positive when they paid). So I start looking around and discover they had SOLD a camera two weeks prior, saying they had received two for Christmas.

Now maybe they sold the camera, had a fire and lost the other one. But it just felt to me like they were trying to work some sort of angle where maybe I'd just give them the camera or something and then they would resell.

So, I'd be skeptical for sure.

Its possible it could be true things like that do happen, but could and likely is completely made up as well. I find it disgusting people make up stuff like that. I would file the claim get your fees back or send out some second chance offers and black who ever it is was

Filed a dispute on all items and responded to the buyers message telling him I had done so in order to recover ebay fees. Perhaps I should have just cancelled the transaction but I have lost over a week of time that I cannot get back. I know ebay probably wont investigate very deeply. But I felt it was the correct thing to do.

So the saga continues.

"Can you send me an invoice for what it cost you.And close the unpaid funds cases. My Mom Will pay you Monday morning"
Invoice sent after the auction closed...

"If you can do that for me I can keep my dad's site open.I use it too.Dad had four bypasses and they say he could come home by the end of the week. That seems crazy.Sorry for the trouble Thanks"

I would be more inclined to believe it if he had not won and paid for several other auctions since backing off from mine. A simple sorry I over extended myself would have had me mutually agree to cancel the bids but dragging this on for weeks now and continuing to bid/win other stuff from other people has me a little more than unhappy. I no longer have the time left to re-list the items before I am back offshore.

Do not listen to a word this person is telling you.

Follow ebay's process and ignore the buyer.

You have to take your emotions out of the situation and just be robotic about this otherwise you will get burned.

Well thats settles that. Just let the dispute process play out. If he was smart he would have waited for this to be resolved before buying other stuff, then again someone who lies about a quadruple bypass probably isn't the sharpest tool in the shed
